Los viajeros de trenes en el suroeste de Londres han sido advertidos sobre posibles interrupciones durante el fin de semana debido a trabajos de mantenimiento en la red ferroviaria. Train passengers in southwest London have been warned of possible disruptions over the weekend due to maintenance work on the rail network. Network Rail engineers will be carrying out maintenance work on a number of points between Queenstown Road and Clapham Junction in Battersea, which will affect South Western Railway (SWR) services on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March.
Queenstown Road station will be closed on both days, while some services will be altered or replaced by replacement buses. Among the routes affected are those connecting London Waterloo with Barnes, Kingston, Reading, Richmond, Twickenham and Windsor & Eton Riverside. Services via Surbiton will also be affected.
The planned disruptions will affect land access to London’s main airports:
– London Heathrow Airport (LHR): Travellers using the train from Waterloo with a connection at Reading or Richmond station could face delays or changes to their routes.
– London Gatwick Airport (LGW): Although the main lines to Gatwick are not directly affected, possible congestion on other routes could lead to delays in travel from London.
– London City Airport (LCY): The disruption to south-west lines does not directly affect this airport, but longer journey times could occur due to public transport diversions.
On Saturday, buses will replace trains between Clapham Junction and Barnes, while services between London Waterloo and Kingston via Richmond will only operate between Barnes and Kingston. Trains between Waterloo and Weybridge via Staines will depart from Barnes, and services between Waterloo and Hampton Court or Guildford via Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon will depart from Surbiton.

– Passengers with flights from LHR and LGW are advised to allow extra transfer time, considering alternative routes such as the Heathrow Express from Paddington or the Gatwick Express from Victoria.
– To minimise delays, it is advisable to use the London Underground or bus services instead of the train on the affected routes.
– We suggest checking the availability of replacement trains and bus services via the official South Western Railway website before leaving.
Further disruption to the rail service is expected over the weekend of 22 and 23 March, when engineering works begin between Staines and Windsor & Eton Riverside.
