Hurricane Nicholas makes landfall near Matagorda, Texas. About 400 flights were canceled or delayed so far Monday in Corpus Christi and Houston. In Corpus Christi, United Airlines and Southwest both canceled all flights for 24 hours. At Hobby Airport, 81 departing flights and 83 arriving flights have been canceled, while 50 departing flights and 75 arriving flights have been canceled at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Houston suspended light rail and bus services on Monday evening and has declared a state of emergency for 17 counties, including the metropolitan Houston area and points along the state’s Gulf Coast.
