Italy. Aviation, train strikes planned on 6 May
Numerous strikes have been called for the month of May in Italy.
- Today begins from 21:00 to 21:00, a national rail strike of Mercitalia rail, a company that manages freight transport, service and logistics in Italy and Europe. Trains and local transportation personnel will be on strike. Local transportation for 24 hours with different starting times depending on the specific location (no further details are available).
- Unionized staff at airports in Rome and Milan plan to strike May 6 over pay and working conditions. 24-hour strike will also take place at some companies operating at Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airports; 4-hour strike is planned at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. - National strike of the pilots of the low cost Vueling 24 hours, from 00.00 to 23.59, on 18 May; while on 20 May a general national strike of all public and private sectors was called, supported by numerous trade unions. The railway sector will stop from 21 May 19 to 21 May 20. The maritime transport, motorways and the air transport sector will also stop.
