Canary Islands. Maximum alert for cyclone Hermine. All flights from Tenerife North, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma are cancelled.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued an alert warning for a tropical disturbance located between Cape Verde and the African coast that has a high probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the coming hours and is expected to bring heavy rains, strong winds and rough seas to the Canary Islands on September 25 and 26.
Due to the weather conditions, flights to and from the airports of Tenerife Norte, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma have been cancelled until 13:00 pm. Aena asks passengers to check with their airline about the status of their flights due to the current weather conditions.
Due to the worsening of the meteorological conditions foreseen in the next 24 hours caused by Tropical Storm Hermine, significant capacity reductions could take place in canarias TMA.
Tenerife is currently positioned as the island with the highest rainfall, with 76.2 liters per square meter at the Las Cañadas station. The day of Sunday is presented with red alert on the islands of Gran Canaria, El Hierro and La Palma.
