24-hour rail strike in Austria today with possible disruption of service to Vienna airport
The vida union is on strike today – Monday, 28 November 2022 – from 00:00 to 24:00. Train traffic has been suspended throughout Austria.
Unless the strike motion is averted, disruptions to Austria Rail (OBB) companies are possible. Services that do function are possible to be busier than regular and elevated congestion is probably going on various types of transport. Services are possible to take time to return to regular, with disruption lasting into the height commuting hours of Nov. 29.

Please keep in mind that public transport to the airport is only possible with the rail replacement service of the City Airport Train or with the Vienna Airport Lines bus line.
Due to nationwide strikes today (28.11.2022), no train services in Austria (as well as City Airport Train services) are possible. In this time City Check-In is not available as well.
CAT set up a rail replacement bus service during that time. These buses run and stop several times an hour and park
- at the airport in front of the arrivals hall, bus stop no. 1,
- in Wien Mitte opposite the Center of Justice at Marxergasse.
During the strike the CAT ticket is valid on the replacement bus.
As delays in road traffic are expected, we recommend planning sufficient time for your arrival to or departure from the airport. Confirm rail schedules earlier than journey and permit further time for journeys Nov. 28. Avoid all demonstrations as a routine safety precaution. Consider alternative travel arrangements if necessary.
