The Cub Transport union has called a 24-hour national air transport strike for all staff at Milan airport on Friday 27 January. As a result of the 24-hour nationwide strike, ITA Airways has been forced to make some changes to flight operations and cancel 18 domestic flights scheduled for 27 January.

ITA Airways advises all travellers who have purchased a ticket for 27 January to check the status of their flight, before going to the airport, on the website ita-airways.com, by calling the toll free number from Italy 800 93 60 90 | from abroad +39 06 8596 0020 or by contacting the travel agency where they purchased their ticket.

Passengers who have purchased an ITA Airways ticket for travel on 27 January will be able to rebook their flight without penalty or request a refund (only if the flight has been cancelled or delayed for more than 5 hours) until 4 February if their flight is cancelled or rescheduled.

Italian petrol stations will also go on strike on 26 January and self-service pumps will also be affected. It is necessary to allow more time for commuting and to ensure sufficient fuel reserves during the affected period.
Trenitalia employees in the Emilia-Romagna region will go on strike from 21:00 on 26 January until 21:00 on 27 January.
At Milan’s Linate airport, demonstrations by ground transport provider Swissport Italia and cargo handling companies Airport Handling and Air Cargo may cause some minor inconvenience.

Individuals flying into or out of Italy are advised to monitor developments, expect consequent flight delays and cancelations, confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport, and contact their airline for more information.
