Germany. Strike 23 March at Munich and Hamburg airports. Mega-strike on March 27 affecting trains, buses, and airports

• German trade union Verdi has called another set of strikes to occur this Thursday, March 23 2023, at Hamburg and Munich Airports. Hamburg airport strike starts on Wednesday evening, with the night shift and should last 24 hours. The airport expects delays, but no flight cancellations.

At Munich airport, SGM employees ( Munich Security Society) will be off work on Thursday for six hours, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Prior to arriving at the affected airports until at least March 24 in the evening, confirm travel status. Check-out shouldn’t happen before your next destination has been verified. Allow additional time to clear passenger processing and airport security procedures.

• German commuters and tourists may need to prepare for a massive strike since the Verdi union and the rail workers’ union want to shut down all buses, trains, and airports. The strike day has been set for March 27. There will be a strike for rail, air, and highway services. Verdi has not officially confirmed this yet.

On Monday, March 27, it appears that the Verdi service union and the rail and transport union (EVG) are organizing a united strike day. Long-distance trains operated by Deutsche Bahn* as well as municipal transportation, airports, and the federal motorway business would be impacted. It is in charge of, among other things, providing winter services and maintaining the roads. Yet, the precise implications will probably be known just before the strike actually happens.
