On 11 April, Myanmar carried out an airstrike in the central region of Sagaing that killed 133 people.

The victims had been celebrating the opening of a local administration office in an area not under the control of the military, which seized power in a coup in 2021.

The airstrike has been widely condemned, including by the EU, the UK, the UN, the US and ASEAN.
