Los más de seiscientos trabajadores pertenecientes al sistema de transporte Metro de Manchester, han decidido llevar a cabo una huelga los días 10 y 11 de junio, en protesta por los salarios que se les han venido ofreciendo. Esta situación afectará gravemente los servicios de Metrolink durante el transcurso de dichos días, incluyendo el festival Parklife, el cual se verá seriamente afectado. Dicho evento, considerado como el festival metropolitano más grande del país, se lleva a cabo anualmente en Heaton Park y normalmente se utilizan medidas especiales para transportar a los espectadores desde el centro de la ciudad a través del tranvía.
