En respuesta al reciente brote de fiebre amarilla en Yambio, Sudán del Sur, el Ministerio de Salud de Uganda ha instado a todos los viajeros, tanto nacionales como internacionales, a cumplir con las normas de vacunación contra la fiebre amarilla para minimizar el riesgo de propagación del virus a través de los viajes internacionales. La fiebre amarilla es una enfermedad viral infecciosa transmitida a los humanos a través de la picadura de mosquitos portadores del virus de la fiebre amarilla. Los síntomas incluyen fiebre alta, dolor de cabeza, dolores corporales, vómitos, sangre en orina o heces, y decoloración amarilla de la piel o los ojos. Debido a los brotes recurrentes de fiebre amarilla, la vacunación es también útil desde el punto de vista médico.
El gobierno de Uganda recomienda que todos los viajeros mayores de un año que ingresen al país estén vacunados contra la fiebre amarilla. Esta medida es esencial para la emisión de visas, y se confirma explícitamente una validez de por vida para la vacuna.
Además de la fiebre amarilla, se recomiendan vacunas contra la hepatitis A y B, fiebre tifoidea, rabia y enfermedad meningocócica como vacunas para viajar a Uganda.
Uganda. Proof of mandatory vaccination.
In response to the recent outbreak of yellow fever in Yambio, South Sudan, the Ugandan Ministry of Health has urged all travellers, both domestic and international, to comply with yellow fever vaccination standards to minimise the risk of spreading the virus through international travel. Yellow fever is an infectious viral disease transmitted to humans through the bite of mosquitoes carrying the yellow fever virus. Symptoms include high fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, blood in urine or faeces, and yellow discolouration of the skin or eyes. Due to recurrent outbreaks of yellow fever, vaccination is also medically useful.
The Ugandan government recommends that all travellers over one year of age entering the country be vaccinated against yellow fever. This measure is essential for the issuance of visas, and a lifetime validity for the vaccine is explicitly confirmed.
In addition to yellow fever, vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, typhoid, rabies and meningococcal disease are recommended for travel to Uganda.
