UK: ASLEF strike affecting Greater Anglia services, including Stansted Express service to Stansted Airport for July 23
Unionized UK railway workers represented by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) are to strike on several dates throughout July and August.
Greater Anglia is reminding people to avoid travelling on its trains this Saturday, July 23, when 90 per cent of services will not run due to a strike by train drivers.
The 24-hour strike is followed by major engineering works on Greater Anglia’s routes into London on Sunday – and the train company is warning rail replacement buses could be very busy as more people than usual are expected to travel on Sunday to avoid disruption caused by the strike on Saturday.
Information about the strikes, including how to get a refund on all tickets including season tickets is available on the Greater Anglia website and stanstedexpress.
Travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation, plan alternate routes, and to allow for extra time to reach their destinations for the duration of the strike.
