Charleroi Airport announces that there will be no flights on that day due the national strike on 9 November.

The national strike scheduled for Wednesday, 9 November will cause many disruptions in transport, and in particular for airports. While Brussels Airport has announced the cancellation of at least 40% of its flights, Brussels South Charleroi Airport informs that there will simply be no flights at all from or to its facilities. It will not be possible to access terminal 1.

TUI fly Belgium announced earlier that its flights to/from Charleroi would be transferred to Maastricht-Aachen and Cologne/Bonn airports

Railway workers’ unions representing National Railway Company of Belgium (SNCB) employees have confirmed their participation, filing a strike notice for 22:00 Nov. 8-22:00 Nov. 9. This action will prompt disruptions to rail services nationwide, including delays and cancelations. Disruptions are also likely on regional public transport systems in Brussels (STIB-MIVB), Wallonia (TEC), and Flanders (De Lijn) should employees take part in the strike

Available services are likely to be busier than usual, and increased traffic congestion, and reduced taxi availability is likely as commuters seek alternative forms of transport.

Confirm all transport reservations and arrive early at airports to allow extra time to pass through passenger processing procedures; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation.
