Spain. Renfe strike for 7 and 11 november
Renfe will suspend the running of 565 trains, 171 AVE and long-distance and 394 medium-distance, between Monday 7 and Friday 11 November, due to the 23-hour strike called by the minority union CGT.
The strike, which will take place from 0:00 to 23:00, will mean a total stoppage of the service. This means that on both days only the minimum services will operate, which will be spread over several time slots.
According to the MITMA ( Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda) Resolution, the minimum essential services are set at 75% at rush hour on Cercanías trains and 50% of the usual service for the rest of the day, with the aim of making the right to strike and the right to mobility compatible.
On Media Distancia and Avant trains, an average of 65% of the usual service is established, and on Alta Velocidad and Larga Distancia trains, 72%. Goods trains will run 25% of the usual service.
The Minimum Services Resolution, which can be consulted on Renfe’s website, includes all Media Distancia and AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity trains that will run on their usual schedule on that day.
Individuals in Spain are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate rail delays, cancelations, and congestion, and seek alternative modes of transportation or maintain a flexible itinerary.
