US. Winter Weather Advisories Issued for Chicago Area Ahead of Looming Snowfall
Winter weather advisories have been issued across the Chicago area at least Nov 17, and for parts of far northeastern Ohio, western and northern New York, and far northeastern Pennslyvania. The heaviest snowfall is forecast over parts of western and northern Maine Nov. 16, where daily snowfall accumulations of more than 20 cm (8 inches) are possible.
Heavy snow accompanied by strong winds will likely lead to hazardous driving conditions due to icy roads and reduced visibility.
The winter weather will likely cause ground and air transport disruptions over the coming days. Authorities could close stretches of highways if driving conditions become too hazardous.
Flight delays and cancellations are likely due to ground stops and deicing operations at regional airports.
