Una serie de tormentas invernales ha comenzado a desarrollarse en Estados Unidos y se espera que, a partir del 5 de febrero generen fuertes nevadas y acumulaciones de hielo en varias regiones del Medio Oeste y el Noreste. Las aerolíneas han comenzado a aplicar políticas de flexibilidad en los billetes para los viajeros afectados. En el caso de los vuelos programados en la región noreste, los viajeros podrán modificar sus reservas hasta el 9 de febrero sin cargos adicionales, mientras que en el Medio Oeste, la flexibilidad se aplicará hasta el 7 de febrero.
– Se recomienda a los viajeros que tengan vuelos programados en las áreas afectadas que consulten el estado de sus vuelos antes de dirigirse al aeropuerto, ya que se prevén cancelaciones y retrasos.
– Se aconseja contactar a la aerolínea para conocer las opciones de reprogramación sin penalización.

United States. Winter storm to affect air traffic in the Midwest and Northeast.
A series of winter storms has begun to develop in the United States and are expected to bring heavy snowfall and ice accumulation in several regions of the Midwest and Northeast from 5 February. The winter storm will hit the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic region particularly hard, with a combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain that could hamper road and air travel.

The airlines have begun to apply flexible ticket policies for affected travellers. For scheduled flights in the Northeast region, travellers may change their reservations until 9 February without additional fees, while in the Midwest, flexibility will apply until 7 February.
– Travellers with flights scheduled in the affected areas are advised to check the status of their flights before going to the airport, as cancellations and delays are expected.
– Travellers are advised to contact the airline to find out about options for rescheduling without penalty.
– Travellers are advised to consider alternative routes or rescheduling outside the period of greatest impact of the storm.
– In the case of road travel, take precautions against ice on the roads and low visibility conditions.
